Christmas in the Royal Landscape

Between the Royal Wedding of this year and the Queen's Jubilee next year this Christmas is an ideal time to come and see this beautiful area. Seeing the landscape of The Savill Centre, Windsor Castle and Ascot stirs a certain pride, combined with ample amounts of festive cheer!

Christmas in the Royal Landscape

The beautiful decorations at The Savill Centre

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. On the cusp of HM The Queen's Diamond Jubilee join our expert and local Guides, discovering the beautiful winter landscapes in and around Windsor and the Great Park. Available every weekday from 1st November this could be just the ticket for group organisers who would like to stay ahead of the local group Christmas events pack. A very entertaining day includes a coach tour and shopping stops in Windsor and at the Queen's own farm shop where we round off the day with tea and homemade cake included in the tour fee.

Meet the Guide at The Savill Centre on the edge of Windsor Great Park at 10-30/10-45am to buy morning refreshments. This beautiful award-winning building has an undulating wooden roof and a massive glass wall looking out into an ornamental woodland garden. There's a shop full of interesting gift ideas and the quality of the garden nursery stock sold here is quite literally fit for a Queen! If you come in November we'll head off straight after morning coffee and a short time for shopping.

If you come in December there will be free entry into the woodland garden which is compact and interesting enough for a short winter stroll to see the walled garden enclosed by rubble from the East End Blitz and the glasshouse named for the Queen Mother.

Next we are off to Windsor for an optional gentle town trail with the Guide or more shopping - your folk can decide on the day. We'll also stay in Windsor for lunch, there's lots of choice beneath the castle walls.

In the afternoon sit back to enjoy a scenic panorama on a sightseeing drive through the winter wonderlands of the Royal Landscape stretching from Windsor Castle to Ascot. We'll meet some remarkable trees, enjoy some great views and hear about Prince Albert's dairy and the current Royal Household - some of whom came to see the Olympic Park with City & Village Tours this year. HM Queen Elizabeth II had a wartime allotment in Windsor Great Park and is still a tenant farmer here. We'll round off the day with a stop at the Windsor Farm Shop where the royal produce is sold alongside festive fare, royal treats and unique stocking fillers adorned with the Royal crest.

Finally take a seat in the restaurant where tea and homemade cake is served all included in your tour fee. This is a real treat as they don't normally accept coach parties! Oh and don't go thinking we've friends in high places! It's more to do with the general loveliness of our customers who have made a real impression on the shop staff, asking lots of questions and getting all nostalgic with the butchers over cuts of meat not seen on the High Street for twenty years!

You'll be ready to head home by 4-45pm.
