The London Eye is still the tallest observation wheel not only in Europe, but in the whole western hemisphere, rising 135 metres above London's skyline. It is officially bad form to continue calling it the Millennium Wheel. Even worse is Ferris Wheel - that's as dire as calling our expensively trained Blue Badge Guides "couriers". Ghastly! Just not done!
Rides consist of one complete rotation taking 30 minutes. A triumph of peace over engineering the Eye turns at just over half a mile an hour - that's twice as fast as a sprinting tortoise!
We like views. Views beguile us. On an East-West axis we see London as the sun does each day when it rises above the horizon. Coming in the dark makes us weather proof - it's not all about how distant we can see on a clear day. The joy of a dark ride on the London Eye at Christmas time is seeing the capital all lit up! It is stunning.
The Christmas Eye Spy tour combines a 90-minute guided coach tour of the London Christmas Lights & Sights with a stop to see Somerset House Ice Rink and a dark ride on the London Eye.
It is dark from 4-00pm in London - pick a start time to suit you between 3-00pm and 7-30pm. The evening lasts three and a half hours in total. We can organise a refreshment stop for your arrival in London or come and meet you if you've been shopping.
At the end of the evening you can pre-book supper right next to the London Eye (for fish & chips or chicken & chips add £8.95 per person) or bring minced pies and sherry to have a little party on the coach.
